Paper "Bioinformatics analysis of disordered proteins in prokaryotes"
Reference L11 - Cross correlations of ecological characteristics
Cross-correlations of all the pairs of characteristics with respect to disordered regions of L >= 1, 11, 41 AA, are presented in PDF documents.
We can epmhasize the following relations:
- Habitat-oxygen requirement:
- In archaea, maximum disorder is found in the Isp group of aquatic, aerobic organisms (34.09%), while the minimum in the Me group of aquatic, facultative anaerobic organisms (5.25%). Some pairs of modalities are missing.
- In bacteria, maximum disorder is found in the Isp group of specialized, aerobic organisms (23.39%), while the minimum in the Me group of aquatic, anaerobic organisms (7.20%). Percentage of disorder is higher for aerobic than other oxygen requirement modalities, except for terrestrial organisms.
- Habitat-genome size:
- In archaea, many pairs of modalities are missing; the highest disorder is in low genome size aquatic organisms.
- In bacteria, high genome size aquatic and low genome size terrestrial organisms have higher disorder level than others.
- Habitat-temperature range:
- In archaea, high disorder level is observed in (mesophilic, specialized) and (mesophilic, aquatic) organisms.
- In bacteria, aquatic and specialized mesophilic organisms have higher disorder than others.
- Oxygen requirement - GC content:
- In archaea, maximum disorder is found in the Isp group of high GC facultative anaerobic organisms, while the minimum in the Me group of low GC aerobic organisms; anaerobic organisms have higher disorder level than others.
- In bacteria, maximum disorder is found in the Isp group of high GC aerobic organisms (21.42%) (for regions L >= 41 AA, Cp facultative low GC organisms), while the minimum in the Me group of medium GC anaerobic organisms (7.67%).
- Oxygen requirement - genome size:
- In bacteria, low disorder is observed for high genome size anaerobic organisms.
- Oxygen requirement - temperature range:
- In archaea, disorder level is higher for (aerobic, mesophilic) and (facultative anaerobic, mesophilic) pairs than for others.
- In bacteria, disorder level is higher for (aerobic, mesophilic) and (aerobic, thermophilic) pairs than for other aerobic pairs.
- Temperature range - GC content:
- In archaea, maximum disorder is found in the Isp group of high GC mesophilic organisms (39.32%), while the minimum in the Me group of low GC mesophilic organisms (14.14%).
- In bacteria, maximum disorder is found in the Isp group of high GC thermophilic organisms (29.27%), while the minimum in the Me group of medium GC thermophilic organisms (7.67%).
- Temperature range - genome size:
- Mesophilic organisms have higher disorder level for both genome sizes of both archaea and bacteria.
